Is It Safe To Take Amoxicillin 500 Mg Every 6 Hours To Get Rid Of Fever ?

Hello Doctors, I m 21 male, i am suffering for fever for past 3 days.. my body temperature is ranging from 37.7 degree celcius to 38.2 degree celcius, my family doctor told me to drink Amoxicilin 500mg capsules every 6 hours, so 4 times a day, for 4 DAYS.. is it ok? or is it too much? thanks...

Dear patient,

The dosage of amoxicillin is correct.
Just taking amoxicillin for simple fever without knowing the cause would not be a good treatment option in my opinion. Yes you are running fever but it is not very high fever. It is important to know the reason for the fever.
I dont know if the doctor has found out the reason for your infection? Do you have any cough ? Or other physical symptoms? As amoxicillin can be given in some infections but not in all. I am not able to form a conclusion from the information you have given me. It would also be a good idea to get a blood test done also if in doubt.
