Is It Safe To Take Methylprednisolone For Rashes On The Body?

I am 74 and my internist prescribed methylprednisone for my hives. I recently was given prednisone by a PA which was 5 pills one per day. Am nervous after reading side effects of the methylprednisone. Don’t know cause of my hives with itching and redness. Am I okay to take it?
Thanks.

Hi,

Methylprednisolone and Prednisone are steroid anti-inflammatory drugs. These are very helpful at treating allergic reactions.I suggest you to take the medication to prevent situation goes worst but also try to find with your doctor the cause of allergy.

It is important to treat but more important to prevent another allergy episode. If you are taking other drugs talk with your doctor to see if any of those drugs may cause you allergy too.

Hope I have answered your query.
