Is It Safe To Take Plan B Pill As Emergency Contraception?

Hi. I had a PE 9 years ago after beginning COC birth control pills six weeks postpartum and was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden. Since then my husband and I use condoms as BC. I had a successful second pregnancy using lovenox throughout two years ago. Today our BC method failed (broken condom) and we are both in panic mode. I purchased Plan B. Is this safe for me to take? I m reading articles giving vague answers. Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Plan B is a emergency contraceptive pill. It is post-coital or morning after pill.
It needs to be taken within 48 hours of unprotected intercourse to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
It should cause withdrawal bleeding in the form of periods within 3 weeks from the day of taking the medication. That indicates that you are not pregnant. In case this doesn't happen, you need to seek medical attention immediately.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
