Is It Safe To Take Tussin For Throat Congestion While Pregnant?
hello, i am unsure if you can help me but i am pregnant and been having chest nose and throat congestion. and i bought some tussin max dm and regular tussin is it safe to use this while pregnant? im coughing up and blowing my nose but when it comes out it is green. its been going on for about two months
If the symptoms have been ongoing for 2 months and the mucus is now green, then it is possible that you have a bacterial infection affecting your sinuses.
You may need a course of antibiotics. There are antibiotics that are safe in pregnancy.
In addition to antibiotics, you can use a topical nasal decongestant such as normal saline or Otrivine. Regular Tussin should be safe in pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
