Is It Safe To Take Atorsave 20D For 3 Months?

My total cholestrol now is 220 ( it was 180 a year ago ) & I am a diabetic but it is under control with HB1AC of 6.67. My doctor wants me to take Atorsave 20D, one tab at night, for the next 3 months. Is it ok & is this drug safe enough. I find some disturbing side-effects associated with this drug when I checked on the net. Pl advise immediately. Thanks.

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
You are taking atorvostatin and vitamin D3.
Every medicine has some side effects or risks associated with their use. Although most people take medicines without experiencing any side effects, some may be affected.
It is prescribed for you to lower your bad cholesterol level like lDL , triglycerides and increase increase good cholesterol (HDL).
Thereby it decreases the risk of heart disease and helps prevent strokes and heart attacks.
It is also proved low Vitamin D3 can increase the risk of heart disease.
Thus your doctor prescribed Atorvostatin with Vitamin D3.
Remember that your treating doctor has prescribed atorvostatin because he or she has judged that it can lower your cholesterol and protects you from heart disease and stroke is greater than the risk of side effects.
Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
However some people may have mild memory problems or confusion and muscle problems like muscular pain.

In addition, you should take proper fat and oil restricted diet.
Exercise regularly for at least 45 minutes daily for 5 days a week.
Do not eat any deep fried as well as packed foods.

Hope this helps.
Please write back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
