Is It Safe To Take Humog When Planning For Kid?

We are planning for a second kid and hence we vistied a doctor for regular check. The doctor advised us to take the humog 150 iu for 3 days even though when we said that we have not tried for the second kid yet naturally without any contraceptive. Please let me know whether it is really necessary to take this humog 150 and what are the side effects? Also the doctor has prescribed for follicular scan. Is this really necessary for some one who had the first baby who is currently 3 years old and have not tried for the second baby yet

Hi,

Humog (Human Menopausal Gonadotropin) is a medication that contains follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). It is commonly used to stimulate ovulation in women who are having difficulty getting pregnant.

If your doctor has prescribed Humog to you, it may be because you have been experiencing difficulty getting pregnant, or because you have a known fertility issue. Humog is generally considered safe and effective for women who need help ovulating, but like any medication, it can have side effects. Common side effects of Humog include headache, stomach pain, bloating, and breast tenderness.

It's important to talk to your doctor about why they have recommended Humog for you, and what the potential risks and benefits of the medication are. Your doctor may recommend that you have a follicular scan to monitor your response to the medication and to help determine the best timing for intercourse or other fertility treatments.

Ultimately, whether or not to take Humog is a decision that should be made in consultation with your doctor. If you have concerns or questions about the medication or the recommended course of treatment, don't hesitate to discuss them with your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
