Is It Safe To Take Medication For Cervicitis And UTI While Trying To Concieve?

I went to a the ER and was told I have cervicitis and a uti. My husband and I have been trying to concieve and I am concerned about taking the antibiotics perscribe. My cycle is 3 days late urine pregnancy test came out negative. My cycle is never late, I have not recieved the lab results yet to confirm I have cervicitis, i am wondering should I start the meds right away or wait for the results. I have had an ectopic and a miscarriage more than seven years ago but also had two full term pregnancies.

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history and understanding.
I have read the history and understood you problem.

First of all I would say that the problems of Cervicitis and UTI- Urinary tract infection has to be completely settled and cured before you think of conceiving.

Secondly all the antibiotics and metronidazole are absolutely contraindicated (meaning should not be given) during the first three months of pregnancy for the well-being of the child in womb.

You should start the medicines right away, complete the courses before you can think about pregnancy.
Ectopic and miscarriage may not have to do anything with the present problem.

I hope this clarified all the doubts .
And helps you have a great health yourself and for the baby.
