Is It Safe To Take Medication If No Pain Is There?

I am about to start injections of Prolia for osteoporosis. I have never broken a bone and have no aches or pains. Is this a wise idea?? I took fossamax 6 years ago for 3 years, then my oral surgeon made me go off befor an implant. also all by endocineological labs came back in the normal range. Is this a safe risk to take??

Hi,
If all your tests are within the normal range and you do not have osteoporosis, then no treatment is necessary. If you have doubts get a DEXA scan for bone mineral density done. If it is low, treatment can be thought of.
No drug is safe. Every drug has a side effect and Prolia is known to modulate immune system leading to various system infections.
To guard yourself against osteoporosis, you can try improving your nutrition, weight reduction, vit D and calcium supplementation.
Muscle strength improvement through exercise and having a active life slows down osteoporosis.
No drug should be taken without an indication. Life style modification is helpful.
