Is It Safe To Take The Ramipril With Amyloid?

I am 74 years of age and am on amyloid pine 5 mg for high blood pressure and today I have been told to take 2.5 ramapril because there is some protein in my urine (I am borderline diabetic) I take my amid opine at night - is it safe to take the ramapril at the same time I am so worried about doing the right thing with my medication Thank you

Thanks for contacting HCM. Dear patient both amlodepin anf ramipril are good drugs for high blood pressure and work very well together. Probably amlodepin alone is no longer able to control your blood pressure and as your kidneys are leaking proteins so there is a real risk of damage to your kidneys due to uncontrolled blood pressure and diabetes. Ramipiril is contraindicated in renal disease so it would be better to switch to some other antihypertensives than ramipril. Regards
