Is It To Be Concerned About Infection In Ear Of A Child?
Hi. I have a 22month old that was showing signs of an ear infection yesterday mid afternoon, pulling and hitting ear accompanied with extreme fussyness. I administered 5ml of ibuprofen and she settled down enough to take a nap. After her nap she was her same old self. Fast forward to today she has acted completely normal no complaints. Then this evening I was buckling her into her car seat when I caught a glempce of her right ear (same ear as yesterday) and she had an enormous amount of yellow/greenish drainage. Obviously there is infection and im aware it needs antibiotics which leads to my questions, 1. Can I wait till the dr office is open and take her in tomorrow or do I need to go in tonight? No fever, no complaints, the ear isnt even red or warm to the touch. And 2. Should I press the need for tubes? This is only her 3 ear infection, but ive never seen one like this befeore and I have seen a ton(mother of 4 under 6 here, one that had 27 ear infections in 2 years with 4 sets of tube s and finally an adnoidectomy and reconstructio)
Looks like she has developed eardrum perforation after middle ear infection.Once drum ruptures, pus is out and pain gets relieved. take him to ENT surgeon as soon as possible for further management.
