Is Itching In The Groin Area A Side Effect Of Apixaban?
Hi I had a clot in my lower left leg and was given apixaban for six months. I'm just about at the end of my treatment and have started to ween myself off the drugs slowly but have noticed I'm starting to itch a lot and have become irritable, and also if I sit for more than half hour or so I get a throbbing ache in my groin area. Is this normal?
I would not say that this is a side effect of Apixaban and I recommend you to do a color Doppler sonography of your left leg to see if everything is ok and to rule out any possibility of new clots in your left leg. Meanwhile, I recommend you also to take Apixaban regularly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Apixaban is newer oral anti-coagulant. It might have caused some blood collection in the groin area. The area can be subjected to ultrasound examination, as it is causing pain.
