Is Lactulose Prescribed For Black Stools?

my father is 88 he states he feels he has a nervous stomach, he is prescibed lactulose and now his stools have been black for over a week. found out he had been taking more that prescribed dosage. is this normal, he has alao lost abot 10 pounds in weight

Black stool are often been caused by hemorragy in the upper intestinal tract.
Lactose is used for constipation.
I suggest you to do a visit to a gastrologyst for a proper diagnose and an endoscopy.
