My bottom right side lip is twitching and quivering...what causes this to happen .. I have been on setraline for a year ..is this a side effect? Also on 50mg of metoprolol blood pressure Meds Blood pressure has been running like 168/80 or higher sometimes
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Sertraline is a SSRI drug and the drug helps to improve serotonin neurotransmission in brain and thus help in improvement of symptoms of depression and anxiety. In some susceptible individuals the drug is known to result in isolated muscle contractions or twitches. These twitches are benign and usually improve on stopping the drug. You have been taking the drug for about a year and just developed twitches in such case I'd advise you to consult your psychiatrist for dose adjustments if needed. Other SSRIs like Fluoxetine or Escitalopram can be tried if the twitches are becoming distressing. Metoprolol is not known to cause much twitches so no need to worry. Please consult your doctor before making any dose adjustments.
Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
