Is Loperamide And Codeine For Watery Stools While Having Temporary Colostomy Safe To Take?

I have a temporary colostomy and have recently finished antibiotics for c-diff. I have done a stool sample today, no results yet but I m still having watery output. I ve been prescribed loperamide and codeine. Please could you advise if it is safe to take. Thanks.

I appreciate your concern, underlying cause of watery stool is matter of concern and it can not be checked with codeine or Loperamide these drugs are not at all advisable because these may cause the paralytic ileus (Stop the physiological movements of the guts called Peristalsis ) passing of the stool three times in day could be normal one, disturb intestine flora could be the cause and it happens due to certain anti-biotic and to get this repaired Lyophilized Lactobacillus can be tried, take care for hydration hope this information helps.
