Is Low Appetite A Symptom Of Ascending Hemicolectomy?

My mother had an ascending hemicolectomy eight weeks ago. In the intervening period, she has lost approximately 20 pounds. She did not take foods for the first week and was on IV nutrition and has had suppressed appetite since then. Is this typical or should I be concerned?

talk to your surgeon.. if no oral intake... consider parenteral nutrition for her.
nutrition plays important role in healing also.
