Is Low Iron An Effect From The Pancreatitis Or Indicative Of Chronic Pancreatitis.

brother in law hospitalized with pancreatitis. IV fluids, bowel rest, pain meds. H&H is fine but iron levels continue to be low. iron tranfusions the past 3 days. UGI, colonoscopy, endoscopy non specific findings. is low iron an effect from the pancreatitis or indicitive of chronic pancreatitis.

Thabks for your query.
A low iron could be due to poor intake or due to bleeding from the GI tract. It is unlikely to be related to pancreatitis.
In either case, it is not too difficult to treat iron deficiency.
We can administer it iv or orally.
