Is Lower Body Temperature Due To An Under Active Thyroid?
Hi, i have and underactive thyroid and take thyroxine.i feel really unwell at the moment, extremely fatigued and my temperature this morning(armpit reading) is 34.4.I am wondering if my temp will simply be lower due to my thyrois condition or does it indicate my meds aren't working? thank you
Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) will cause tiredness, weight gain and decreased body temperature.
Once started on thyroid hormone replacement your temperature will return to normal in 4-6 wks. If you are still having this problem, please consult a doctor and have your thyroid function done. If your results are showing highTSH that means your thyroxine dose is inadequate and you have to step up the dose.
Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you
