Is Masturbation Advisable While On Antibiotics For PID?

Hi, I am being treated for pelvic inflammatory disease, unrelated to an STD, and I m on antibiotics for 14 days. I have been told to abstain from sex for this period of time. Is it ok to masturbate as a female? And what about my male partner who is being treated for the same thing?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I suggest you not to indulge in sexual activities, even in the form of masturbation, while you are being treated for pelvic inflammatory disease. This might give an opportunity for flaring up of inflammation and hence, it would be better to abstain from sexual activities completely for 2 weeks.

You need to understand that there is a need to give tissues proper rest and sufficient period to recover back to normal. Following treatment, you may resume sexual activities gradually, along with intake of proper precautions.
