Is Methylprednisolone Given To Treat Rashes?

I just started taking MethyIPREDNlSolone Tablets, USP 4 mg. I just received the perscription and took 2 tablets and will take the rest of the first day dose before I go to bed. I have a wicked rash that actually looked like the Shingles. But I guess I have a bad rash. I have had Shingles before. Is this medicine often perscribed for a rash?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Methylprednisolone would be prescribed for an allergic rash that does not respond to other treatment.

If you have a very significant rash that is not responding to other forms of medication then this is the reason that it is prescribed. It would not be prescribed for shingles because it would suppress the immune response.

I hope this helps
