Is Metrogyl Effective For Drying Pus In Gums?

dentist has just drained pus from area above pallatte on back and gum by drilling through two teeth. he pressed hard on the swollen palatte and some pus came out. I have beengiven antibiotic with painkiller and told to take metrogyl 400 also for drying the pus. I used to think that it is for bad stomach. is metrogyl been prescribed correctly?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Metrogyl contains Metronidazole and is suitable to treat gum infections and abscess formation that seems to be your case..
You have been advised appropriate medication as it will help in clearing the infection and will also help in drying pus..
You can also take Amoxicillin along with Metrogyl to relieve the infection..
You can also do warm saline gargles and maintain a good oral hygiene..
It seems that you had a dental abscess that is being drained using a procedure known as Root canal treatment, therefore for complete relief from pus and infection get a complete treatment done along with antibiotic cover as antibiotics along will not resolve the problem completely..
