Hello,
Fucidin contains
fusidic acid, an antibiotic. It is not an antifungal. This antibiotic helps with bacterial infections. However, applying it repeatedly to fungal-prone areas (like the genitals) can worsen fungal infections over time by disrupting normal skin flora. You should use Fucidin only if a bacterial infection is clearly diagnosed.
Long-term itching that responds to Candi-Derma, which contains
clotrimazole and beclomethasone, suggests a fungal infection with some inflammation. If it recurs, it means that fungus isn't fully cleared or is getting reintroduced between partners. If the cream is still on the skin during intercourse, some of it may transfer to the partner.
While Fucidin is unlikely to directly cause a
urinary tract infection (UTI) in your wife, it may irritate the genital area, disturb natural
vaginal flora, or worsen any fungal imbalance, indirectly increasing UTI risk. Take care of your hygiene and make sure that your private organ is clean before intercourse. Get clinically examined by a
urologist to make sure if both of you have infections (fungal, bacterial, or both).
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
