Hello
The spinal stenosis is a frequent condition in your age.
The treatment is changing from a simple medication like pain remedies and muscle relaxants to Corticosteroid injections like you had.

The surgery is discussed, case by case according to risk/benefits of the surgery, which is apparently is a heavy surgery in your case which and is dangerous to your age.
For the nerve ablation the full pain relief should occur within 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure, in some cases the pain may recur and a second session should be performed.
I know you're suffering, but you need to be patient until the treatment worked.
You can improve results by losing weight, walk for 30 minutes daily, using braces, a corset, or a walker may help you.
You should always have the straight posture, sit on a supportive chair, and sleep on a firm mattress.
Apply heat and cold on the area may help you, and the hot shower is also useful.

Hope I answered your question
Wish you a speedy recovery
Best regards
