Is Neuroma And Ganglion Cyst Same Thing? If Not, What Is The Difference?

My 12 year old daughter's wrist began hurting a couple of days ago. I could feel and see a lump on the underside of her right writst. I took her to her pediatrician today and he said it was a neuroma and that it might go away on its own. He also mentioned that neuromas sometimes go away if they are hit. Is our doctor mixing up a neuroma with a ganglion cyst> Are these the same thing?

Hi ! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

You are right. Neuroma and ganglion cyst are two different entities. Ganglion cyst might disappear after any trauma, but might re appear again later. I would suggest you to discuss out this with your paediatrician.

Hope this information helps you. Thanks for using health care magic forum for your query on health. Good luck.
