Is Neuropathy In Both Legs Caused By The Total Knee Replacement Surgery Done In Both Legs?

I have had full knee replacements in both legs 10 years ago.I am a fit 63 year old but now have painful neuropathy in both my legs.My legs feel like lumps of wood and are either very hot or freezing cold.Does the surgery relate to the neuropathy. I do not have diabetes but take seroquael for bi-polar disorder. Can this medication cause neuropathy?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

I personally feel that there is no connection between your surgery (TKR done 10 yrs back) and the development of Neuropathy symptoms recently.

Seroquel (quetiapine) may produce muscle twitches & stiffness in muscles. Consult your treating doctor and discuss the issues.

A detailed clinical examination by a Neurophysician is needed to establish a proper diagnosis of your problem.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
