I have been in an early detection of lung cancer research program since 2010,have had 4 cat scans over that period of time.during the first they found a nodule 3mm x3mm,the last 2 weeks ago it has grown to 14mmx16mm associated with a mocous plugging which was present at the baseline exam in 2010.the nodule is indeterminent and they plan to do another scan in three months. do you think i have lung cancer.I am still a smoker.(forgot to mention there are scattered new nodules which they say are transient. will cancell my request as did not realise there was a fee.have no credit card
Since u are having nodule in your lung and u are a smoker i would suggest u do a fine needle aspiration cytology test from the nodule to rule out malignancy. U should also repeat a CT scan of chest with contrast after 3 months and if the nodule keeps on increasing in size then immediate biopsy from the nodule is suggested. Regards Dr De
