Is On And Off Pounding Heart, Anxiety, Headache And Pain Behind Eye Serious?

Hi, Im 21, i eat badly i think, don't excersise much at all but i'm not overweight- my resting heartrate is around 85+ beats a minute. if i walk somewhere it can easily reach around 100, but i've never noticed it exceed that by very much. i have a little anxiety, but it seems that it's a result of the worry associated with my rapid heartbeat. i smoke, but am cutting down. i'm worried because it can sometimes pound hard for no apparent reason, and i often get a headache, pain in my sinuses or behind my eye. should i be worried?

Hello and thanks for your question. It is really important to find out what your blood pressure is. Elevated heart rate is common if someone is not eating and exercising properly, but the pounding is not about the elevated heart rate. It could be that your headaches and the pounding sensation that you feel is due to high blood pressure. It would be good to get that checked. Even if it is high you could possibly correct that by eating a healthy low salt diet, stopping smoking and exercising regularly. To answer your question "should I be worried?", only worried enough to check it out and change some of your patterns to a healthier way of living. Good luck to you. Changes you may at your young age will give you a healthier and happier future.
