Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Pain In The Thighs Associated With Varicose Veins?
My right right inner thigh hurts when I move it. I can hardley pick my foot up past a step. Have not injured that I know of. No trauma. Not in groin area, it s lower. I m active. I ve had vericos veins before and I have a few in that area now. But never had any pain with before. I m very active with jobs, kids and hobbies. But right now I have to sit down to put on underwire pants socks and shoes because I can t lift my leg. But unless I m trying to lift or move my leg I don t have any pain. Zero. I can walk without any pain. I can jog without pain. But to get into my Tahoe or step up on something it is breath taking pain.
If there is no history of direct trauma then the pain is likely related to issues with the muscles or tendons not bone related (not likely a fracture). Injury to muscles or tendons can sometime occur with sudden or irregular movements, lifting etc.
You can consider the use of a warm compress 2 to 3 times a day for 15 mins along with pain medication particularly anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Cataflam etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
