Is Passing Clots 10 Days After Rectal Drainage Normal?
hi there, i had my ilestomy preformed 10 days ago 26/04/2011, due to severe flare up of ulcerative collitis, and not responding to IV steriods. now my question is this, i had the rectal drain removed 6nights ago, after bein flushed and drained, they said it was normal for me to pass bits of clotting, but i am still passing small amounts and this is ten days after surgery. is this normal?????
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Ulcerative colitis is a serious disease as this is recurrent and hence you needed the iliostomy. The blood through the rectum can be due to the ulcerative colitis still being present hence no need to worry at the moment. Colonoscopy can be done as a precaution to see the level of recovery. Be under the care of your Team of Doctor, paramedics and thus be sure about the progress and to go for further management as needed to have better quality of life.
