Is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, Vaginal Lip Canker Sores, Pain Due To Herpes?
So recently I had pelvic inflammatory disease and have been trying to get over that but my partner never got treated so I m started to get it again so my pelvic region is sore and hurts when I cough. I went in today for a pelvic exam and I have these things that look like canker sores on the inside of my vagina lips. The doctor told me they are herpes. I have just one on one side and just one on the other side. I also have a bacterial infection. Do you honestly think i have herpes?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Soreness and pain in pelvic region, pain on coughing and soreness inside the vaginal lips suggests infection. However, herpes infection is characterized by fluid filled vesicles which are itchy and painful. A vaginal swab will help to determine the infectious agent responsible for these symptoms. Pelvic inflammatory disease can occur due to many causes- bacterial infection being the commonest. Barrier method of contraception should be followed else you can transmit the infection to your partner. Your partner should also be counselled and investigated for sexually transmitted diseases.
