Is Pregnancy Possible With Dark Red Menstrual Bleed Post Sex?

Hi, I lost my virginity on the 3rd of February and I was due to get my period on the 11th of February. I am 18 years old. We used a condom and I am scared that I might be pregnant. At the end of last week I got cramps like I normally would a few days before my period starts, but it hasn't come. We had sex on the 3rd, and I was slightly bleeding a dark red/brown colour for the next 2 days, but it was only very light. I don't know if I should take a test or just wait and see if the worrying about it is influencing it.

Thanks for the query.

It is a common finding to have bleeding for a few days after starting an active sexual life. It happens due to minor tears in the hymen [covering over the vagina, that gets ruptured during initial episodes].

Chances of pregnancy are very low after a single sexual episode. Having said that it also depends if you happen to be ovulating while the sexual episode as then the chances of pregnancy are high. Chances of ovulation are high from day 12-18 in a regular 28 days menstrual cycle and may vary by a few days in slightly longer cycles.

So remember this for future. Also you have used a condom so pregnancy is unlikely. Please do not get stressed as stress also causes a delay in periods.
If you continue to have absent periods during the next 7 days, get a pregnancy test done but most likely you will get a period in the meanwhile.
