Is Presence Of Blood In Urine A Sign Of UTI?

Hi there. I noticed blood in my urine at the end of urination this morning. This has never happened before. My fiancée mentioned she had a trace of blood in her urine last week, is it possible I have caught a urinary infection? Alternatively I also went to a party this weekend And drank a lot of alcohol...could this be a cause??? Thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

No alcohol is not cause for blood in urine. Blood in urine can be by many causes like urethral injury, urethritis like infection, cystitis or kidney infection, acute urinary tract infection etc. To approach further in your case we have to check whether pus cells and bacteria present in urine or not. Also we have to see whether any cast present or not. So investigate with urine routine microscopic examination. According to report I will guide you further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
