Is Rabies Vaccination Necessary After A Dog Bite?

Our dog just bit my partner after being starteled from his sleep. She has a small skin tear on her forearm (the top side) and the under side is a tooth mark. There was immediate bruising to this area with a hematoma. Icing it now. Should we go to ER to have it checked or can it wait until tomorrow for her to see her PCP?

Hi dear!

Thanks for consulting the Physicians at HealthCare Magic. I have worked through your case thoroughly, and I can easily realize your partner's health worries. Being your physician, I reassure you not to worry as things will settle down very soon.
Look closely to your dog. If dog tries/or/ runs away and never comes back. OR doesn't eat and drink anything. OR other major changes He might be a rabid dog and she may need the treatment. But you never know. And also, thats a difficult scrutiny. I mean You should go to the ER right away and if needed they will give immediate treatment. Dont waste time and go right now.
(IF YOU LIVE IN USA, REMEMBER THAT ITS RACOON NOT DOG AS A MAJOR SOURCE OF INFECTION REGARDING RABIES).
May your partner get very well soon and have a wonderful time ahead. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback to help us assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful' & give a five Stars too. Write a review about your experience with me.
