if you have a severe throat and uti infection and an extended stomach are aged about 87 and in hospital high temperature and high heart rate throat is very sore crustations on tongue which is black and lips are told this is very serious is it life threatening or could a comback be made iv fluids are being given but unable to eat or drink for last week no sucess in trying to put tube feeding in place please be honest so i know where i am as to prepare my wife its not looking good thankyou
If patient is unable to eat or drink anything then this is not a good sign. Nutrition is must for quick healing. I/V antibiotics does help to recover. Although the problems you have mentioned are all treatable with ease but in this case all are in their severe form so this could mean that the prognosis is not good. Also the clinical evaluation/lab results of last week and now can help to evaluate the current state of the patient.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. Wishing him good health.
