Is Recurrent Stomach Pain Post Treatment Of Viral Gastroenteritis A Serious Concern?

Hi, my daughter is 4 years old. She got viral gastroenteritis when we had made a trip to india from US. After 7 days of diarrhea, she was admitted in hospital and given IV. She got discharged after 48 hours. It s been 3 weeks since this happened but she sometimes complains of stomach ache now and then. Today, she dint have proper lunch and before dinner she had a bloated stomach and passed out a lot of gas after complaining of pain. Should I be worried about this recurrent pain now and then? How should I treat this?

Hello,

A recurrent pain in abdomen can be related to irritable bowel or a post viral syndrome. This can improve gradually on its own by increasing the fluid intake.

I hope this information has been helpful for you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
