Is Recurring Bout Of Diarrhea, Vomiting And Fever Suggestive Of H Pylori Infection?

My eight year old daughter just got over a bout of what seemed like a stomach bug with vomiting, headache, and low grade fever. She s been weak for a few days and it seems like it has fired up again. Now with horrible sulfurous burps and diarrhea. I ve read about h. Pylori. Is that a common bacterial infection?

Hello,

Your eight-year-old daughter is having acute gastroenteritis, most probably virus. If she does not have vomiting any more, then, should give her:

- plenty of fluids especially water with oral rehydration salts
- lemon soda juice
- BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple sauce, toast)

If no improvement, or if she can't eat, should send to ER or consult with her paediatrician as might need prescription meds.

H.pylori is a common infection but I do not think it's the cause of your daughter's health problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
