Is Regular Medication For Heart Burn Safe?

I am having heart burn and as advised by my doctor I am taking happi 10 mg tabs daily. I am perfectly OK on the days I take this medicine. But when I do not take the medicine on any day, the problems recur. Is it safe to take this medicine daily ? whether it will have any side effects ?

It is needed sometimes to give such Medicine for longer time. but with caution to avoid prolonged use. there are some concerns with chronic use of PPI...renal safety, dementia, stroke, cardiac safety etc are few important concerns.
