Is Rubbing Alcohol And Bandaid Right Treatment For Deep Cut In Finger While Cooking?
I stabbed myself while cooking 1" below my thumb and 1/2" in with a knife stabbing frozen broth. I is only about a 1/2 inch wide but is very deep and put me in a bit of shock. The knife had pork on it. Am ok with rubbing alcohol and a bandaid? Worried about cutting a muscle.
Rubbing alcohol is irritating and often painful. It is not particularly an asset when it comes to wound healing. You would be better off cleaning with a mild antibacteial soap. I do agree with keeping the wound covered until it is healed. If you have impaired function, meaning you cannot fully move the hand or thumb as you were able to before, you should be checked by your physician. If not, it is acceptable to wait, but be careful to watch for signs of infection, and see your physician if there is any doubt.
