Is Severe Cough While On Venlafaxine A Matter Of Concern?

I have taken venlafaxine 150 mg SR-capsule 24 hr. for 6 years . I take this for depression, now the doctor has increased it to 300 mg once a day. My depression is controlled, but now I have a cough that wont go away. The cough is bad - cannot get rid of it - is this is anything to worry about.

Hi,

Cough is not related to Vanalfaxine and may be due to respiratory tract infection. You can try any anticough syrups for symptomatic relief. If cough persists, you can consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
