Is Severe Pain In Kneecap Causing Leg Stiffness While Walking After Knee Replacement Surgery Normal?

Hi
It is 6 weeks since I had a total knee replacement. I am presently attending physio and excercising with a 120degree max bend at present. My problem is that I am having severe pain in my kneecap which is hendering my walking with leg stiffness. I would like to know if this is common and will it loosen out in time.
Thanking you,
William Wills

Hi
I dont think it is normal to have a stiff knee after tkr and that too almost after 6 wk physio.I think your tkr is done good as you have 120 degree flexion. But you need some muscle or tendon release to get the stiff knee release. But you can still wait for more 6 wks as it takes 3months to become total pain free after tkr.
Still consult your orthopaedic surgeon.
Get well soon.
Thank you.
