Is Severe Pain In The Ribs Due To An Intestinal Loop?

About 2 weeks ago I was cleaning my bathtub and as I bent over my wire bra pushed on my ribs on my left side. It was extremely painfull but didn t think anything of it. I take Percocet for back pain which un be known to me has been keeping that pain level down. Last night I didn t take any pain Meds and the pain was so bad I almost went to the ER. (I ran out of my Meds) The rib pain has been getting worse the past couple of was. I don t know if it was already ther and my bra made it worse or if my bra caused it. I m thinking my bra worsened what was already there because of the progressive pain. I hope I m making spence. I have been diagnosed with having dilated bile ducts, pancreatic, & hepatic. My pancreatic bile ducts were narrow though. I also have a intestinal loop that shows up on ct where it looked like it was a tumor on the pancreas. Could this be a problem with that loop? I don t have a fever but very bloated Any ideas what could be causing this severe pain?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a thoracic surgeon and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
