Is Sleeplessness A Sign Of Prion S Disease?

My son lives in Missouri and is 46. He has always had difficulty sleeping, but it has been getting progressively worse in the past two weeks. I am fearful he may have a prion disease. Noone will help him and he has no money. I need to get him help.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Regarding your concern, I would explain that difficulty sleeping is not a typical sign of Prion Disease. You should know that Prion Disease is a serious medical disorder, which main initial symptoms are rapid cognitive deterioration and seizures. Difficulty sleeping is usually related to daily stress, depression or a poor sleeping hygiene. So, just don't worry about it! It does not seem to be anything serious.

Hope to have been helpful!
Wishing all the best,
Dr. Iliri
