Is Slight Pinkish Discharge A Sign Of Period Or Pregnancy?

Hello Doctor My name is Swati i am 32yrs old.my height is 5fts and 2.5 inches,weight 63kg.from 28th of june i have been using susten vt 100 twice a day and folvite once in a day.on 5th july i got pinkish discharge.i feel giddiness also n very weak.i have to test beta hcg on 11july.please let me know whether pinkish discharge is the sign of periods?i did UTP at home today on 7th july and it was negative.so does that mean i have not conceived?

Hi Swati,
No discharge, particularly pinkish or bloody is a sign of pregnancy. In fact such discharge during pregnancy is not a good sign except at term when it is indicating imminent labour.
The symptoms of early pregnancy are:
1. Cessation of menses
2. Nausea & vomiting
3. Frequency of urination
4. Breast symptoms
* Engorgement
* Brownish discolouration of nipples and areola with increase in size of areola (This happens in first pregnancy and stays life long)
* Pain/Tenderness of breasts with heaviness
* Secretions - clear to milky from nipples on squeezing
You do not have any of these.
Even no one diagnoses pregnancy on these symptoms only. For detection, clinical examination supported by UPT and/or ultrasonography is required.
UPT or Ultrasonography give reliable results only about 8-10 days after the missed period. However, beta hCG UPT can show positive results even 2-3 days after missed period.
