Is Soreness In The Knee Post An Injury A Cause For Concern?

I recently slipped on a wet incline and my right leg twisted under my body resulting in knee pain that has gotten better over the past two weeks but is still sore. I am hobbled somewhat but do not need the use of any aid to walk at all - have been applying heat and ice on the knee. I am a 61 year old male ..6 5 approximately 270 pounds ....your thoughts....

this may represent arthritis of the knee iether due to trauma, infection after the trauma or preexisting osteoarthritis due to age
Investigations
Good physical exam by a doctor to establish the pain.
X Ray of the knee
MRI of the knee
Full Haemogramm to rule out the infection
Treatment
Pain releive 'Analgesics. brufen asprin.panadal will do.
Muscle relaxant such as valium for good sleep and relaxation of tensed muscles.
Warm massage
Consult orthopaedic surgeon or rheumatologist.
