Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes, I have a newborn baby -- 3 weeks old. He has been diagnosed with staph infection in the eyes. He has had this since birth. We have started antibiotic drops in the eys and have been using the drops religiously for 4 days. The eyes seemed to get better with 24 hours and now they are worse and he is running a very low grade fever. I have called the doctor and waiting on return call. Could this be very serious or can it be treated?
Hi.. It's treatable condition.. Baby may require oral antibiotics and pain killers... We can do pus culture sensitivity for accurate diagnosis... If infection spreads doctor will treat it accordingly.. So relax n visit ophthalmologist or pediatrician as soon as possible... Thanka
