Is Stomach Virus Contagious?

My husband and I have had a stomach virus, vomiting and diarrhea. Our daughter just gave birth today to twins, 5 lbs and 5 lbs 8 oz. My question is when would it be safe for us to visit? We do not want to spread the illness. I have not vomited, etc in approx. 36 hours.

Hello Madam,

Welcome to Health Care Magic. I have gone through your query and I understand your concern.

First of all, I want to congratulate you for your nephews.
Regarding to your question, stomach virus is contagious, but it is spread through close contact with infected people, such as by sharing food or eating utensils, and by touching contaminated surfaces and objects.
I would recommend you to wash your hands often with soap and water and use hand sanitiser is the most effective way to stop the spread of these viruses to others. It would be safe to visit the newborns if you follow carefully my recommendations.

Hope I answered to your question. For further questions feel free to ask again.

Kind Regards,
Dr. Ina Zaimi
