Is Stroke Curable After Surgery?

my father had a stroke this morning. The whole left side of his body he cannot move. He opens his eyes occasionaly and tries to talk some but speech is very hard to understand. The doctors said that he has some clogged arteries and are talking about doing surgery to unblock them? What is going on? Is my dad going to be ok? what is next?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your father's symptoms.

They are suggestive of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). This condition is treated by medications and usually, no surgery is needed.

If a patient reaches a stroke center within four hours, a clot-buster therapy with actilyse injection can be given, which leads to good recovery and outcomes.

Thereafter, aspirin and statins can be used to prevent strokes in the future.

Physiotherapy and exercises can be done to hasten the recovery.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
