Is Surgery Advisable For Thoracic Kyphosis While Having OI-1?
i have thoracic kyphosis last measured at a 90 degree curve that was caused by compression fx. I also have osteogenesis imperfecta type 1. My question is should i even consider surgery given the brittleness of the bones caused by the OI? I am 40 yo and in good health otherwise except for the constant back pain.

Is Surgery Advisable For Thoracic Kyphosis While Having OI-1?
Hi, Surgery carries risk and it is better to go for conservative management. Healing will be delayed due to osteogenesis imperfecta and thus surgery is not a good choice unless highly indicted. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
