Hey, I am 31 years old, had a mystenia gravis disease and had the thymus surgery 7 years before, and had my spleenocomy surgery 10 years before. Now am facing hyperthyroidism problem, the thyroid is so hyper and enlarged, I read that it is because of my history with an autoimmune disease , iam on medicine now, a surgery is a must or not? In some sites I read if we are facing an autoimmune disease its not necessary to undergo the thyroid surgery...... I did my spleen surgery before the diagnose my illness

Surgery is the last option for hyperthyroidism Consider radio iodine treatment , which is the best for you unless you have severe thyroid associated ophthalmopthy. surgery is indicated only if you have a huge thyroid or if you have severe eye disease associated thanks and let us know if you have further querry
