General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Surgery is not required if there is no urine obstruction which can cause kidney damage. Such stone can come out without medical attention. However is she is unable to take this pain, and nothing is changing, she may consult urologist and have cystoscopy (ureteroscopy precisely) to remove the stone. It is not a surgery, but a type of test where a thin scope is inserted through the urethra and bladder to ureter.
Mentioned pain killers in regular dosages should not cause any problems. It is hard to tell when and if this stone will pass. Please consult urologist.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
