Is Surgery Required For Enlarged Lymph Node In The Pelvic Region?

Hi. My dad is 86 and has had quadruple bypass surgery about 20 years ago. His doctor suspects possible lymphoma due to an MRI showing an enlarged lymph gland in the pelvic area near his hip. They want to do a chemical stress test. I fear this could just kill him. What would be the purpose of this, especially if they want to do surgery anyway? Thanks

Since there are numerous reasons for lymphadenopathy...and lymphoma is one of them...before operating there must be a concrete diagnosis. ...so test is required.
